Manufacturing staffing
Manufacturing staffing is usually treated as a volume problem and solved with volume, which is why the same roles reopen every quarter. We treat it as a retention problem that starts at the point of hire.
The churn is the cost
A production role filled by someone who leaves in eight weeks costs more than the role standing open — training time, supervisor attention, and the quality dip while somebody learns. Filling it quickly is only useful if it stays filled.
So we screen for whether a person can sustain the shift pattern and the commute, not only whether they can do the work. Those two things predict tenure more reliably than experience does.
What we cover
- Production and assembly. Shift-ready placement, screened for availability and travel.
- Machine operation. Matched to the equipment you actually run.
- Quality and inspection. Including candidates working toward certification.
- Supervision and line leadership. Often promoted from the floor, which is the point.
- Leased staffing. We remain the employer of record while the worker is placed with you.
Straight answers
Questions people ask about manufacturing staffing.
Why is manufacturing turnover so high?
Most manufacturing turnover is decided before the first shift, by hiring people for whom the shift pattern or the commute was never going to be sustainable. The second cause is the absence of a visible next rung — an operator who cannot see how to become a lead has no reason to refuse a better offer down the road.
Can you staff a full production shift?
Yes, including whole-shift and project-team staffing where a cohort starts together. Cohorts tend to retain better than individual hires because the people starting alongside each other become a reason to stay.
What is leased staffing in manufacturing?
Leased staffing means we remain the legal employer — handling payroll, taxes and employment compliance — while the worker performs their job at your facility under your direction. It suits variable demand, and it moves the employment administration off your team.
